Posted: 01 Aug 2010 " border="0" />" border="0" /> " border="0" /> " border="0" /> " Hi RAUKers- Here's some (not great!) photos I took of some Lacertids this week in Bosnia. I'd like to get some IDs from RAUKers. The first two pics show very small juvenile lizards in Mostar, I'm not sure at all what they are. And the latter three pics show adult lizards in Sarajevo which I assume are Podarcis muralis. All info and suggestions gratefully received! Martin Dudley. |

Posted: 02 Aug 2010 The first photo looks like Podarcis melisellensis fiumana juvenile, Dalmatian Wall Lizard which is found along the coastsl region of the Adriatic, the climate along the river Neretva valley allows certain of the coastal species to go further into the country to just past Mostar than elsewhere along the coast. The second photo looks like a juvenile Green Lizard which in this area would be Lacerta viridis or the lineage VII of L.bilineta according to Bohme,M.U. et al. although there was no sampling at this area so difficult to tell. The Sarajevo specimens look like Podarcis muralis as you thought. DAvid British Herpetological Society Librarian and member of B.H.S Conservation Committee. Posted: 02 Aug 2010 Hi David- I did suspect the second picture might be a juvenile Green Lizard, although I wasn't sure which species. I had no idea what the first one was. That's a couple of new species for my life list! Thanks very much, Martin. |

Posted: 26 Aug 2010 I rather think the second is a concolor melisellensis... Jeroen Speybroeck http://www.hylawerkgroep.be/jeroen/ |

Posted: 26 Aug 2010 Jeroen, You could well be correct there, the tail did look a bit long and the head slender snouted, but not exactly like the plain ones I have seen on the coast, would like the animal in my hand to be certain. Posted: 06 Sep 2010 Let me try to explain: I suggested that it might be Podarcis melisellensis - Dalmatian Wall Lizard. "Concolor" = unicolour, without obvious stripes, spots, ...
